I would suggest you to get the visa first and then resign.

Once you receive your visa, your employer can not do anything.. (but while the visa is in process and if you told ur employer abt ur UK plan.. if BHC does employment enquiry and calls your employer and if he does not give proper answer, then you may be in trouble..)
