"Valid From" date

Post by london_prem » Wed Feb 10, 2010 4:32 am

I got Tier 1 visa from delhi. Thanks for all forum members who helped me in solving my queries. This forum saved me Rs 60,000 charged by consultanies like Y-Axis, Named OISC advisors etc.

I have a question: I requested start date of 1st April 2010 on application form. But the UK embassy gave me start date of 5th Feb 2010 (the day I got approval). Can I request to change the date now? What's the procedure?

Any poistive / negative aspect of changing the date now?

Can I go to UK anytime after getting visa?

I am thinking of changing the date because I read somewhere that it will be good if I go to UK within 28 days of approval.

Thanks a lot guys!

This type of info seems to be flying around as I've heard this too but experts on this forum have suggested no such condition exists.

See What if applicant is not intending to travel straight away to the UK?.
You may request ECO for change of "effective date". Contact VFS / BHC Delhi.

Hi!
I had a similar situation when I applied in December 2009. So I wrote an application (on plain paper) to change the date (as in the original application) and submitted it to VFS with my passport. After 5 days they gave me my passport back with the old visa cancelled and new visa with new date.
Let me know if you have any other questions.
Regards
Shail
