Need help; how to get ILR

Post by mahnoor_77 » Wed Mar 10, 2010 3:42 pm

I got HSMP in November 2005. In November, 2006, I got extension till November, 2010. Now according to new rules, I am eligible to get ILR in 4 years. Kindly help me or guide me, should I apply for ILR now or wait till September 2010 because my 4 years time has been passed. Other thing, what documents I will require for ILR, from where I will get an appointment and how much time it will take for ILR. Should I need to pass the UK test as well?

You can apply after the completion of 4 years. You dont need to pass the life in the UK test. I did, but the case worker told me I was not required to pass the test. The case worker asked me for 3 latest months payslips, 3 months bank statements (latest), all the p60s, and letter from employer.

Erm, I don't think that is entirely correct. Life in UK Test is compulsory for all applying for ILR or citizenship.

Check the link below for details, there is also a helpline to phone to clarify if you need to take it.

http://www.lifeintheuktest.gov.uk/htmls ... nd_10.html

Another link details who is exempt from the test:

http://lifeintheuk.net/index.php/about_ ... _the_test/

Nothing about applicants applying based on HSMP being exempt.

not all hsmp holders but applicants covered under hsmp(jr) are indeed exempted from the Life in the UK test for the purpose of ILR. although they would need to pass the test to apply for citizenship.

Thanks vinseh. I should have said HSMP(JR). But I thought that was understood as the mahnoor_77 is qualified for HSMP JR.
You can download latest SET(O) form. It is mentioned in that form.
