how long they will hold my passport for the dependent pass?

how long they will hold my passport for the dependent pass?

i am applying my dependent pass soon. As I need to submit my original passport to the home officer, I would like to know how long they will hold my passport for. That is to say, how long the application processing take?

I need to know because I might have ad-hoc business trip.

please let me know.

With in UK if the case if starightforward 4-5weeks outside UK applications varies
