Photograph background color

Post by Vega » Sun Apr 04, 2010 3:41 pm

The visa services site seems to say white background is needed.

The photograph guidance on ukba says cream/light gray background and that "...please ensure that they are aware of the format requirements specified in this guidance, particularly that the photographs will not show a white background when printed."

One booth I went to could only do a white background or a dark grey background.

A Fotofast booth told me they have been doing white backgrounds for a long while and it should be fine for UK visa.

Is a white background going to lead to a rejection?

I have got them done here http://www.snappysnaps.co.uk/ they only do light grey background. See if there is one near you, call them and ask if they do light grey background.

When the guidance clearly says, no white background. Why risk?

Not sure which visa services site you are talking about.

I have checked the VFS site, who are the UK visa services providers in India.

There is a link 'Photographic requirements' under the General Information.

http://www.vfs-uk-in.com/visa-info.aspx

Which is the same as the photographic guidance in the UKBA website.

If it was me, I would find a place where the photographs are taken according to the guidance. There might be people who differ with my opinion.
