Tier 1 visa validity after Tier 2 Visa

Hi,

I have both tier 1 and tier 2 stamped from India, tier 2 being latest and am currently in UK on this visa. I haven't travelled on tier 1 yet.

Could you pls suggest if my tier 1 is still valid and if I can re-enter on this visa as I am getting some good opportunity in UK.

I have enquired about this from both UK high commission in India and UKBA in UK. But both of these have different things to say. UKHC in India says my tier 1 is valid but UKBA in UK is saying my tier 1 is invalid as only the latest visa is considered as valid.

Could anyone help me with this and suggest me how should I proceed.

I think the Tier 2 has overriden Tier 1. So now tier 1 becomes invalid.

it seems both tier1 and tier2 are valid. I am confused due to difference in responses from UKBA in UK and UKHC in India.

Can some senior member comment on this?

Although Visa from different categories say A- Business/Tourist, B - Work won't overwrite each other. However since Tier 1 & tier 2 Visa technically belong to same category i.e. Work related I guess it needs to be checked with immigration officer (on what procedure they follow).

I am also sailing in the same boat, so robust conclusions from seniors will be very helpful.
