If his spouse has an EEA Family Permit, no need to panick when it 'expires'! She still has a legal right to be in the UK with her French spouse, based on their marriage.
Hopefully, he is exercising his treaty rights in the UK, in some way!
She can apply for a 5 year Residence Card using Form EEA2, within the UK.
