Another passport query

Post by mashk » Thu May 13, 2010 7:24 pm

A 'friend' of mine has been terribly naive. He recently applied for and gained British nationality. Now he's applying for a passport.

When he applied for British nationality, he was asked to fill in his parents dates of birth on Form AN. He was unsure about the exact dates, and knowing full well that he didn't qualify as British from his parents, and had earned his citizenship wrote down some approximate dates. Foolish I know, but there you go.

His parents aren't sure of their birthdays, and being born in rural Pakistan 50/60 years ago means no records were kept

Now he's got to fill in a passport form and can't remember the dates he wrote on Form AN.

Now does he state on the passport form that he doesn't know their dates of birth? And hope they don't cross check with the naturalisation application.

Or does he wrack his brains, try and remember the dates, and hope they match up or if they don't and it's brought up, say it's a mistake?
