Imp. query regarding bringing forward travel date to UK

Post by aussiemate » Fri May 14, 2010 5:06 am

Hi All,

This is my first query on this forum but I have been following this blog since long time.

Well I'm from Australia and I work in IT.

Well, i am planning to apply for Tier 1 visa in July'2010 first week. My question is :
We need to provide the intended date of travel to UK and that should be within 3 months from the date of Application. I am cool with this...
What i am planning is that once i get my visa I will actively start applying for IT jobs in UK from Australia. If I get a job which require me starting the job in say 1 month, CAN I REQUEST THE UK HIGH COMMISSIONT TO PREPONE MY ENTRY DATE TO UK ?????

My preference would be to grab a job before i go....Can someone help me with the query ???

Also, does anyone knows the situation of IT contracts in UK ???

I'll appreciate any piece of information.

Regards
Jas

Unless you request for the visa to be effective from a future date (max. 3 months), your visa will be issued from the date the decision is made on your application - thus allowing you to travel as and when you wish to.

My apologies, I think I was not able to put my question straight.

So here's another try.

Actually when I file my application i want my entry date in UK to be 3 approx three month from my application date. The reason behind this is that once i get my visa I will start applying for IT jobs in UK.

So what if in the process of applying job in uk from australia, I get a job and my employer in uk wants me to start in 1 month. Could i request UK high commission to bring my entry dates forward so that i can start my job in UK.

There is another reason that i want my entry date to be after 3 month, which will give me some time to organise before i leave for uk and also i wont have any issue extending tier 1 after 2 years.

Please post your opinion/concerns

Don't believe such a request will be considered, but best to check with your local BHC.

If you do not plan to travel immediately, you can ask for your visa to be post-dated up to three months from the date of your application. Once it get stamped as per your request, you would be unable to change the date of visa issuance. See this.
