Spouse of Briish citizen with ILR, how soon can I apply?

Post by adi-pa » Wed May 26, 2010 3:21 pm

I first came to UK in Jan 2007 as a student (from India).
Got my resident permit for 2 years as a spouse to British citizen in April 2008.
Last week I received ILR.
When is the earliest I can apply for British citizenship?
Is it 1 year from ILR stamp (May 2010)?

Thanks for your answers.

Have a look at Requirements for Spouses

If all other issues are inorder (eg absences, good character) you should be eligible to apply straight away

Oh, thats cool. I thought I would have to wait for a year. from ILR stamp.
Yes, everything is in order. I just wasn't sure what the rule/law is on how soon from getting ILR I can apply.

Thanks for this quick response.
