PLS DISREGARD EARLIER POSTING!

Post by geeteshanand » Sat Jun 05, 2010 10:21 am

Girls and Boys,
PLEASE DO apply for a Tier 1 General Visa today if you are 33 years old as points awarded are 10 and not ZERO if you apply for extension....my apologies!!

really sorry for any confusion!

Cheers.

I would suggest you contact WH Marks Satin and Michael Page in London and confirm salary expectations for your skill set and experience.
If you earn anything less than GBP 55K gross per annum, please do not waste money, effort and time to apply for the initial visa unless you have plans to move out of the UK in 2 years for a better opportunity elsewhere!!

Let me know anyone if this advise has proved helpful to you.

Cheers.

Hi ,

No one knows what will be going to happen to TIER1 in future so in my opinion , age is a little factor in this whole picture. As far as earning is concerned , you can get good job as per your skill set and with the passage of time ( UK experience) , you get good jobs. I known allot of people who were hired at 18 pounds per hour and now they are getting 35 per hour . You have to remember that you are also getting 5 points for UK experience ( your income goes 25K above) . So in a nut shell , we can not say " DONOT APPLY" to any one as we never know what will happen to them ( of course in a good sense).

Market is going down and i agree there will be problems but with future "CAP" things will be better for those who are already here .
Thanks

Ali

Be more practical than optimisitc

Post by geeteshanand » Sat Jun 05, 2010 11:00 am

Hi,
Ya I know its good to be optimistic and stuff..and I am sure people will command a better pay packet with UK experience.
But remember post April 2010, the darn Tier 1 visa is valid for only 2 years and I think you need a good 2 years of UK experience to probably go for a higher income bracket in order to claim more points..but I doubt you could move to the next income bracket in less than 2 years. So if you start with GBP 50K today, chances are rare you could move to GBP 55K in less than 12 months from today. I say this because by the time you land in London, look for work and actually find a job..you would have already used atleast 2-3 months of your 2 year visa. Then once you get a permanent role post 2 -3 months, for GBP 50K, you will have to prove to your employer that you are good to go for GBP55K by 31st March 2011 (end of financial year for UK).This you have to prove in less than 12 months (i.e. by the time the first 1 year on your visa is finished). Then for the last 1 year on your Tier1, you have to be commanding GBP 55K per annum. You can do odd jobs if you like to cover up..but then is it worth the struggle?
SO i think the gravity of the new rules post 6th April 2010 demand that one is more practical than just optimistic.
I hope you agree, but if you dont I am still keen to get your thoughts anyone..
By the way I am 33 and by the time I apply for extension I will get zero points for age, 35 points for qualifications,5 points for UK experience and 30 points for earnings (as per expected GBP 50K as advised to me by a well known recruitment firm in London).

Cheers..
