Biometric in PSW

Post by rahul12345 » Sun Jun 13, 2010 11:58 am

Hi,

Just wanted to confirm if biometric is required for PSW visa. My understanding after reading the application form is that it is not required but I read some posts here that mention that some applicants had to go through it.

Also am I right in assuming that without biometric application should take about 4 to 6 weeks?

Thanks.

no biometrics required if u r applying from uk.

if you are applying from outside uk, then as a part of enty clearance, biometric is a requirement.

biometrics are now required for psw in country application.

Applications made from 14 December 2010 onwards, will be issued with Biometric Residence Permits instead of the visa sticker being placed in passports, You will be required to go to have your biometric details taken if you apply from 14 December 2010 onwards.

Hi,

Is it required for all the applicants? (i.e. inside and outside the UK)? What is the source of this message - please let us know.

Thanks

Biometric Residence Permits
Everyone applying to extend their leave in the
UK as a Tier 1 (Post-Study Worker) must apply
for a biometric immigration document – also
known as a Biometric Residence Permit.
As part of this application process a migrant
must make arrangements to have his/her
biometric features recorded.

For better clarification go to page 51 of the new psw application form, here is the link.http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/sitec ... k-for1.pdf

I am not so certain as to whether it applies to applications made outside the UK,but it applies to applications made in the UK after 13 Dec 2010.

Hello,

Could you guys kindly let me know whether the biometric thing is a part of the appointment already booked or do we have to do it from somewhere else? And if it is from somewhere else, could you guys suggest me where do i do it from?

As per the instructions/guidelines mentioned in the final pages of new application form (14-dec), for applications made inside the UK - they'll send us a letter after they receive our application.

that depends on your mode of application, if you are applying by post then a letter will be sent to you after your application has been received giving u instructions on how to go about getting your bio metrics taken, but if you apply in person then you will get ur bio metrics taken when you go in for your appointment

It is confirmed that the biometric is required for "all" applications. For in-person applications, biometric will be collected on the same day but the identity card will be sent afterwards.
