Query about references for naturalisation

Post by enonone » Wed Jun 23, 2010 1:58 pm

Hi everybody:

Sorry to bother you guys with this silly question. I´d been checking for the answer and do not seem to be able to find it. I am going to apply for naturalisation, but for some reason I do not seem to know many (if none) people who can act as a reference. My question is: my mother/father in law (UK citizen), are they allowed to provide me with a reference? Are they considered relatives?

Thank you very much in advance for any help.

E.

They won't qualify to act as a referee.

Good morning all!
I have another question regarding the referees:
Can it be someone living abroad? It is an un-related to me British Citizen.

Another question; I read here about the NCS - walk-in. Does it really exist?
Have a good day!

with regards to NCS it does exist this is a checking service it is not quite walk in though. you will have to make an appointment and with some councils it takes longer to get an appointment

An overseas reference may be more difficult to get hold of in case UKBA want to cross-check information, as such i wouldn't advise it. In the same vein the history of such a person may not be verifiable.
