Working Holiday Visa-have to go direct to Canada?

Post by irishm » Wed Jul 07, 2010 1:16 pm

Hi all

Does anyone know if you have to remain in the country you apply for the Working Holiday Visa for the entire time until you leave to go to Canada for the year or just for the duration of the processing of the Visa?

Any help would be much appreciated - I want to apply for a Visa this year but go travelling in between (assuming I get the visa I would then leave here) and go to Canada after a few months travelling

Thanks!

You dont need to be, but you do need to be able to provide information in a timely manner. BUNAC is very popular and the allocated visas run oout very quickly. Apply as soon as they open for this year.

Thanks raymasa2

Feeling very peed off right now coz just found out they changed the rules of this visa too- you can't have been away from your home country for more than 3 years since 18 - I've lived in UK for last 6 years and was planning on moving bk to Ireland just to apply for the working holiday visa...

anyone have any experience of this rule?

I also can't apply anymore for residency as I work in IT and they no longer accept that on the skilled workers programme...anyone got any other ideas how to go live in canada?!!!!

They are changing rules and making it harder to apply. I am assuming you want to immigrate to Canada. In which case there are a few ways, for example provincial, family (if you have have in Canada and which province), study permit, converting to work, etc, etc. They may not be all straight forward, easy or quick, but there are other routes. Depending on how badly you want to move there and how long you are willing to wait.

You may want to look at cic.gc.ca and see if any of the other ways can work for you.

HI Raymasa2

Yeah i would REALLY like to immigrate to Canada - I've explored all routes and found a dead end at all :( I don't have family there, don't want to study a second degree and can't afford to either, the only way is to get a job there but trying to get a job in another country when you can't be interviewed in person and then have the hassle of visa's etc isn't going to happen :(
no company is going to wait months to employ someone unless they are very specialised (which im not!)

I'm still trying to find a way but its seems im doomed unless they change the rules for IT professions- which I don't see happening :(
