want to switch from Tier 2

Hi,
I have tier 2 visa untill Aug 2011. But my company is going through redundency. Although I'm not affected yet but the coalition govt's spending cut is going to create some more issues like this in near future.

My question is what sort of visa or option I have if I want to change my visa type? I have been in living in England for over 7 years.

Tier 1 (General) is an option, provided you qualify.
