Ontario birth certificate for a parent

Post by Dowew » Tue Jul 13, 2010 2:37 am

Hello,

I am researching into the UK ancestry visa (or whatever its being called now). I have a grandmother born in Scotland, but my father was born in Ontario. We are no longer speaking, and I am finding an interesting road block. To get the visa, you must prove ancestry through birth records, but does anyone know if a child can legally request a parent's birth certificate in Ontario, without the authorization of the parent?

Find a lawyer in Ontario (one dealing in family law), if there is nothing on the website of the birth registry.

Lawyer should be able to tell you if there is a special process to make an application, possibility of a court order, etc.
