Naturization in the Netherlands

Post by Papafaith » Thu Dec 01, 2005 12:10 pm

Does a workpermit in the Netherlands (Holland) lead to naturization? If it does how many years does one need to be under workpermit before one gets citizenship.

The answer to your question is no.

Having a work permit does not entitle you to automatic naturalization. The general rules for nationalization are as follows.

1. You ought to have lived legally and continuously in The Netherlands for five years. You'll have to provide documentary evidence for this.

2. You ought to be in possesion of a permanent residence permit, so if you are on a temporary residence, you'll have to upgrade it to a permanent residence first.

3. You'll have to pass the NT1 and NT2 examinations, to show that you can speak Dutch.
