If one has been denied a visa to enter and they do not appeal does this mean that they will be banned from entering for 6 years? Its what I have been told by friends so one must always appeal?

No thats not true. You can apply at any time and as many time as you want to whether you appeal or not.

Infact you can both appeal and apply at the same time if you so desire

Thank you, can they ask why they have been denied or is it a secret? Would be good to know if it was because of their nationality , where they are & finances or their sponsor, they were not given a reason

Thye should have been given a refusal letter explaining why they have been refused
