To be fair, this is not the first thing you should be looking at. You have presumably had some form of leave to remain prior to obtaining ILR, and possibly this had entitlement to employment. This is the type of query that fuels stereotyping as to the negative impact of immigration. Yes we know that this country has benefited from immigration over decades however people getting ILR and then looking to claim all sorts only validates the viewpoint of certain right wing parties

It is possibly the biggest concern of most Brits is that "these foreigners are only here to steal our jobs and claim our benefits." sadly questions like this fuel that theory, especially in economic times like we are currently in

jammybunn - You are just jumping to conclusion...why did you not ask the OP what benefit is he looking to claim or is interested to know? Though i am against abuser of the benefits system as this really upset me as i have to get up every morning to work even in cold weather and have never claimed a penny in all my years working (not even ct discount)- i believe you are damm out of order in your response to the OP as you do not know what he is after.......

people are excited when they are given ILR and this could just be a general question he is after - like as a permanent citizen what benefits are there for him......in fact he is entitled to know his right in any case - im sure he working and paying taxes and is entitled to as much as you are.

its the 2nd post i saw you commented on and this is all negative - one where a guy wanted guidance on his mother's visa and though you have some valid points the way you came across is nothing more than what you describe in your post about so called brits....not all is like this im afraid, and only the minority immigrants want to sit down scrounging off the benefit systems...in fact the truth is the opposite......moreover this forum is about people who wants either guidance on their immigration status or information and people like you do nothing to help...

this is not the forum to comment on your viewpoints especially those held by you....go elsewhere...

I am not jumping to conclusions, all i am pointing out is that this is the type of question which drives the right wing parties to gain support. In asking questions like this it will only add to their numbers. Did i say thats what immigrants come here for? no. Was i personally stereotyping? NO. i was just pointing out that the connotations of potentially asking a question like this. Furthermore, all my posts so far have been to give advice on the questions raised, you may not like my blunt nature but hey, the truth can hurt- if you read all my posts you will see that it is advice i am giving to the original posters, i aint trying to sugar coat it and give false hope because that would be unfair and costly

everyone is entitled to their opinion - and its best to be fair and straight even if it hurts but thats not what you were doing. I just dont think this website is the place for your opinion on what you called right wing supporters....immigrations made Britain what it is today - it cannot survive without it regardless of what others say..someone is asking about the benefits they may be entitled to did not need a response from you as he is legally entitled as much as you and i am entitled to.....many immigrants came here and all they want is a better life for them and their family and would work night and day for this - not one of my friends and family around me dont sit at home - they work their mule off to be able to have a home and a decent family....and so if they want to claim whatever sort of benefits its entitled to them and they have earned it...most of the ones who sit and relied on benefits are the ones who dont work (and mainly bred here)...and dont earned it as they dnt contribute to the economy..

Your post are the description of the people you described and nothing less....talk for yourself and not the whole of Britain....someone wanting his mum to come here and your response is why should we allow her here to claim all the benefits here and she has not worked to contribute towards this...tell me if this is not the response of someone you are describing...this forum is about immigration matters, advice and guidance not having a go at people and talking for Britain....people want to know their options - and it may be that its impossible and not worth it or very difficult but not to be be told off...you are damm out of order - if i was the moderator i would ban you from this forum.....its not the place for your views.......

I saw a lot of post by the guy Wanderer and many others though they can be harsh they are the honest truth and thats people need to know the truth but not to be told off...

anyway i rest my case - but i dont think the intention of this forum is for views like yours...its defeating the purpose!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
