student visa whilst owning a business

Hi,

I'm from India and am currently on a dependant visa in uk which expires in November. Whilst living in UK I have set up my own IT contracting business (sole trader, no other employees, with turn over of only 7k a year).

I have been accepted for a university placement in Jan, so will apply for my student visa when back in India in November.

Would the fact that I own my own UK registered business mean I would not be accepted for student visa? If so wud closing down my business help?

You're not allowed to be self employed while on a student visa. So yes I would imagine you need to close it down.
