Visa rejection for uk - will it affect other country visas?

Post by littlebush » Sun Aug 08, 2010 1:03 am

Hi, anyone know if a visa rejection for the uk would show up on any computer systems for other countries and then affect that visa application?
Most visa applications ask if youve ever been rejected a visa for another country - just wondered why they ask if they cant check if its true...?
Cheers

Are you assuming that they can't (check)?

Irrespective, if you lie and the agency (of the country you plan to visit) has the means to find it out - you'll be in trouble (again). Lying on immigration documents isn't a good idea.

Admitting a visa refusal to one country does not necessarily mean that you will be refused when applying to another one! Just be honest in your application and hope for the best. :)

@littlebush: my brother just last week applied for and was granted a uk visit visa.

One of the questions in the application form was whether he had been previously refused a visa, why and from which country. He told the truth and said he was refused a US visa last year and because of lack of ties to home country. But now he is in university which means he now has ties to his home country. Hence he was granted the UK visa.

moral of the story, better to tell the truth...than to tell a lie as you never know the consequences you may face. wish you all the best with your application :)
i'm not a professional, i'm just giving responses from personal experiences or from ukba or ukcisa links that appear appropriate to the situation. currently on PSW visa

...also, i have read of people who have said No, and then the officials found out, either thru the fact that there might be stamp in the passport or maybe they cooperate with other countries, and the person was refused on grounds of deception and banned for 10years.
