Need Information ...Tier 1 general Received

Hi,

I have received the Tier 1 general .

valid from 1st Oct 2010 to 1st Oct 2012.

Is it compulsory that i have to travel within 3 month from the validity date(1st Oct 2010) to UK with my tier 1 VISA ?OR else my VISA will be not valid.

Please guide..

This question has been asked more than anything else on this forum. Please make an effort to search the forum for already answered queries.

The answer is No, you dont have to travel within 3 months. You can travel any time before the expiry of your visa.

Dear Shepherd,

Lets say for example the tier1 visa got stamped on 1st June 2010 for 2 years upto 1st June 2012. And the person enters in June 2011. From when does the 2 year visa validity start ? Is it 1st June 2010 OR June 2011. ?

If it is June 2011 will he be allowed to stay only for remaining period till June 2012 i.e. 1 year ?

The start date of the visa is the date that has been stamped on the passport..in this case June 2010...landing up in June 2011 will set the clock for ILR(in case one wants to go for it) from june 2011...

The person will be allowed to stay & work till June 2012 unless he/she decides to extend and gets an extension..

Your visa validity starts from the day mentioned on your passport.

It has nothing to do with the day you wish to enter UK. So if your visa validity says 1st June 2010 to 1st June 2012. It starts from 1st June 2010 and if you enter uk on 1st June 2011 then you would just have only a year validity left on your visa.
