Earning Factor as Sole Proprietor- Paid in Instalments

Please advice me as I have been working as Consultant but I was paid usually in installments by cash as Import/Export Consultant. My statement reflects irregularity.
For example I prepare market Reports for a firm and they are paying me in installments throughout the year.
I would be thankful if some one guides me.
