Maintenance Funds

Post by shankarsub1 » Fri Aug 20, 2010 9:15 pm

I have couple of questions

1. Do I have to have the minimum bank balance every day through the consecutive 90 day period?

2. Should I have joint account with my dependent wife, if she is applying as a dependent along with me, as main applicant. Or Is it sufficient that my bank account shows sufficient funds?

You can get your wife added as a Joint account holder in the account where you are showing the funds.

Yes, they need to be 2800 GBP at any point of time. So even if they fall by 2800 GBP on a particular instance then it would fail the criterion.
Thanks,
Sumit.

Hi guys i had certain amount on my acount which was way more than 2800 pounds for couple of months then i had to withdraw some money but left enough to have 2800 ... ( it was around 3510 azn local currency) i was checking oanda until mid of august and 3510 during those 14 days were equal to 2800 then i left the country and had no chance to track the amound i had and now i found out that it dropped by 20 pounds at certain period. I realize it might create difficulties and lead to refuse!? Do you think I can risk? :(

If your bank statement reflects balance of less than 2800 pounds on any day in the qualifying 90 days / 3 months period, your application will be refused.

even taking into account constant ex rate fluctuations...have there been any cases when money would drop by 20 pounds but they would still be given visas?

The exchange rate applicable on the date of application is considered as the base rate for the entire 90 days period.

So lets say you find that you qualify with the exchange rate in your favour, then you are good to go!!
Thanks,
Sumit.

Unfortunately not. For maintenance funds the Guidance note says:
204. The exchange rate of overseas currency will be made using the OANDA rate conversion on the date of application. www.oanda.com
