Maintenance Funds

Post by prabhas » Mon Aug 23, 2010 3:36 pm

Hi Experts,

I have a tricky situation. All my savings are in my wife's account. For maintenance funds I am planning to add myself as joint account holder in that account. I need to apply within a week as the exchange rate that I am planning to show is from May end-June start time frame (so that I have enough points from past earnings).

I wanted to know if I need to be the account holder for the joint account for more than 3 months or its enough that the account has suffucient funds for the last 3 months?

Thanks in advance.
Prabhas.

I think the guidance says you should be named as a joint account holder and that your name should appear in the bank statement for the duration of the period you are showing your earning and/or maintenance funds. I stand corrected though, but I think you should be a joint account holder for at least 3 months b4 you apply.

If they figure out while doing verification that they were added as co-account holder just a week before the application, they might sense a foul play and may have unfavourable decision in your favour.
