On the same lines, I have a question - For how long is an IELTS score considered valid by UKBA? 1 yr/2 yrs or more?

IELTS by itself has a two year validity!! Within this period, it is valid by anybody including UKBA!!

My question is "Will expired IELTS be a valid proof for english proficiency?"
Ideally, No but given that the visa is a work related visa HSW I just wanted to check if there is an exception...

Well, IELTS is valid for 2 yrs but Canada Immigration dept considers it invalid after 1 yr! That's why the question.

If yours has expired (2 yrs over) I would say avoid risking it. You might wana get a letter frm your Univ stating that the medium of instruction for during your degree was English. :)

A letter from the university is no longer accepted as English language proof - you need to check on the PBS calculator or take the IELTS exam.

IELTS for UK Tier 1 is valid for 2 years. For canada it's valid for 1 year.
