Tier1 Visa extension

Post by sjidh » Wed Sep 29, 2010 12:25 pm

Hi,

I am on Tier1 visa and my visa expires in October 2011.

Currently I am doing a contract job with Limited company, so I want to know how the earning section needs to be shown when applying.

Thanks!

Ambiguous. Please explain your employment arrangement - self-employed or employed.

Tier1 Visa extension

Post by sjidh » Thu Sep 30, 2010 11:34 am

Hi,

I am self-employed.
So I get salary from the Limited company I set up.
So do they look for the salary as 30k or the total income(salary+dividend)?

Thanks

Hi Sushdmehta,

I am also in a similar situation as the original poster here, and have a very basic query - what is the best way to decide whether one needs to apply as Employed or Self-employed?

I work as a contractor through a limited company (held 50-50 by myself and spouse), and draw a salary and dividend from that company account (have an accountant to take care of finances). So do I get classified as Self-employed (as I have run my own company), or as Employed (as I get a salary and dividend from a company)?

Greatly appreciate any help that anyone can please provide.

Thanks.

AIUI, one who draws a salary is an employee (i.e. - employed).

Thanks a lot.

So in that case, I think payslips, dividend vouchers and personal bank statements should be sufficient?

Or do you think its good to also include any (or all) of the following:
a) an accountant letter (confirming the salary, dividend and shareholding %)
b) company bank statements
c) certificate of incorporation for the company
d) vat registration certificate for the company

Will be great if you can please confirm. Want to ensure that I provide them all that is required (but also not get them too confused by providing too many extra documents, specially those which make sense only for self-employed applicants).

Thanks for your help.

Depends on what the source of your income for claiming the points is.

it does not matter for UKBA if salary comes into your account monthly or quarterly. Only thing matters is whether the payslips are matching with the amount paid into your account and also if the total gross makes up for the said amount which you are suppose to show for the points

Hi Push,

Regarding the source of income, I work in an investment bank as a contractor through a limited company (held 50-50 by myself and spouse), and draw a salary and dividend from that company account (have an accountant to take care of finances).

Given the above, do you think payslips, dividend vouchers and personal bank statements should be sufficient?

Or do you think its good to also include any (or all) of the following:
a) an accountant letter (confirming the salary, dividend and shareholding %)
b) company bank statements
c) certificate of incorporation for the company
d) vat registration certificate for the company

Your valuable inputs are very much appreciated.

Thanks.
