Tier 1 extension question

Post by mtuckersa » Fri Oct 01, 2010 8:33 am

How long can you leave it before you apply for a Tier 1 extension, my expiry date is 27th august 2011, can I apply on the 26th August 2011? Or will this create problems in terms of me been in country and not having a visa to cover me while I wait for the visa? I want to take advantage of the new salary I am getting as waiting longer will push me up into a higher earnings band.

You must apply before your current leave expires. How the date of application is determined, see When to apply.

Ok, read that link, thanks, so technically you could apply say 2 days before, send it via courier or post and they use that date as the date of application. Although you will be without a visa for 1 or 2 weeks maybe 3 weeks? This is the bit I am unsure of, the bit of not having a valid visa but still been in the country

which probably explains why they recommend that you apply 28 days before the visa expires
