IELTS - General or Academic?

Post by 9jeirean » Fri Oct 01, 2010 1:39 pm

Hi,
Could anyone please clarify which of the 2 types of IELTS exam is required for FSW application, General or Academic? I have just recently taken and passed the Academic version for my professional registration. I am about to send my application to the CIO under the Federal Skilled Worker category. I just want to know if my academic IELTS result (less than 6 months ago) will suffice or do I have to sit a separate General exam for the FSW application?

This link will answer your question: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/ ... 06-eng.pdf

According to this document, at this moment in time, CIC will only accept general training.

I guess you have to take the exam again. I have read the document and the other responses are right. They only take the general one. You can also try to coordinate with CIO if your score can in the academic exam can compensate. It's worth giving a shot. Otherwise, just retake the exam. I'm sure you will pass. :D
