Tier-1 Dependent Visa holder may work?

Post by sobber » Tue Oct 19, 2010 6:01 pm

Hi,
My wife is applying for UK Tier-1 immigration in next month.I will accompany her as a dependent.I am currently working in UAE so its not possible for me to show my experience in my home country i.e pakistan. And in UAE my salary is not enough to qualify for Tier-1

If she will get Tier-1 and once we will be there I will search for the job for myself. My questions are

1) As a dependent am I eligble to work full time.
2) If I will convert myself to Tier-1 after 1 year will it reset my ILR counter?
3) For getting extension according to current law she has to show 36000 pounds income. If she will not able to get a job of worth 36000 will they cancel the tier-1 after 3 years?

Infact I will be the primary source of earning in UK but unfortunately doesnt able to qualify for tier-1 so I am adopting alternative route via my wife.
Does this sound ok?Any pit falls?Any advice/comments

Regards

1. Yes.
2. Dependents' eligibility to settlement is wholly dependent on the main migrant's eligibility for settlement. Time spent in UK on dependent leave to enter/remain is not counted when an individual applies for settlement as a PBS migrant.
3. One needs to qualify for extension as per rules applicable at the time the of extension.
