Limit on Tier 1 and Tier 2 ---MAC report

Post by mclrajan » Sat Nov 20, 2010 12:07 am

Just now I gone through the MAC Report published on Nov 18. It is very clear they are very firm in reducing the Tier 1 visas. They are actually trying to give the actual meaning of 'Highly Skilled' migration through this.

Overall the countries going to get affected badly are Nigeria , pakistan and czech. The ratio of tier 1 to tier 2 visa issuance is very low from these countries , in this case salary multiplier will play the vital role. Interestingly India will not have much impact on the salary mulitplier as It has low ratio on tier 1 to tier 2.

I dont understand how pakistan and nigeria has more skilled migrations compared to other developed countries. But if you see tier 2 visa from these two countries are very few.

Sure that points are going to be recalibrated every year , it seems. Finally the MAC concluded that reduction on tier 1 will have less impact on fiscal and GDP compared tier 2 visas. It can be compensated by training the UK locals.

The extension is also not spared by the MAC. They suggest that while extension ask the candidate where he worked and it must be in the countrie's occupation shortage list.

Where on earth did you read that Czech Republic will be badly affected? They are part of the EU, don't need Tier 1 visas - they only time they will need to do Tier 1 is if another national is resident there and applies for a visa.

I don't think they said anything about shortage lists. They suggested that the applicants should work in skilled occupations, not shortage ones.
