Visitor visa

A distant cousin is planning to visit my husband and I.Our mothers are cousins . She is 18 and planning to stay 6 months.

I am curious as to how the relationships are proven.
Would it be possible for her to apply under the family visitor's visa.
Does anyone have a link on the list of requirements?


I am on a spouse viss expiring June 2011 and my husband is British.

Hope someone can help.
