Travelling to India twice in 2 months

Post by vinod_g » Sat Dec 25, 2010 5:23 pm

Dear All,

I have just recieved my british passport last week and want to travel to India twice in 2 months. I will be applying to surrender my Indian passport soon.
My query was:
1. Can I apply for long term entry visa or do I have to apply for 6 months tourist visa in the first instance?

2. If i get long term entry visa, then does the 2 month rule apply to me? as I know it does apply for tourist visa.

Thanks in advance.
Vin

You might not be given a long term visit visa this quickly. It will be most probably a short term travel visa.

Would suggest you get that and travel on it if you have some urgent work.

Else the best option is to surrender your passport and apply for OCI asap.

The month of Dec 2010 has seen OCI's being processed quite quickly (14 days to 1 month). You might get lucky and get your OCI quite fast. That way you do not have to worry about the number of times you travel to India and days spent there.
