unmarried partner IRL can apply for citizenship?-plz help!!

Post by fruithoney » Sun Dec 26, 2010 10:57 pm

Hello everyone!! Hope you call having a great Xmas and Happy new year!!

I have a question regarding to getting citizenship need some help!!

I have successfully applied for the IRL under Unmarried-Partnership last week. Thanks for everyone here have help!!

Now I am thinking if I can apply for British Citizenship straight away?

I have been in this country over 6 years (inclueded 4 years living with my boyfriend). Under the current regulation, I am not sure if I need to wait another one year after my IRL before I can apply for citizenship or I can just apply now.

Thank you

Unless married to / civil partner of a British citizen, you must wait for at least a year since being granted settlement and apply for naturalisation as and when standard requirements are satisfied.
