Hi

Post by kenny2115 » Fri Dec 31, 2010 1:55 am

Hi i am a current student on my BA final year.
I will be graduating in june 2011 so obviously i cant apply for the post study visa right? as its til april 2011.

I am really frustrated right now as i do this course because of the PSW!

So can i apply for another sorts of visa or i have to go back to my own country?

Would be great to get some advice on that .

Thank you

Why do you think that you may not be able to apply? The government has not announced any changes to Tier 1 (PSW) immigration rules (as yet).

Until it does so, stop worrying and concentrate on your studies.

Even if UKBA close or change the eligibility criteria for T 1 (PSW), probably its not going to be effective from April 2011. So I believe you have a fair chance.

Until such time there is announcement by UKBA in this regard, all that you have heard is just hearsay / rumours.

Where has UKBA stated / hinted that Tier 1 (PSW) will close in April 2011? What if they decide to close in 2012 or 2013 or 2014 .... or not close it at all but change the eligibility criteria? Who knows ... as yet?

Keep the worries aside until such time that UKBA makes an announcement that affects you, and concentrate on the task at hand (studies).

'' 22 December 2010

The UK Border Agency has stopped accepting Tier 1 (General) applications made overseas, from 00:01 on 23 December 2010. This is to ensure that we do not exceed the limit set by the UK government for approved Tier 1 (General) applications between 19 July 2010 and April 2011.

If you submitted an applications on or before 22 December 2010, this will be processed as normal. However, we have already announced that we will not decide any more Tier 1 (General) applications made overseas until January 2011.

Tier 1 (General) will not reopen for new applications overseas. If you have already obtained a Tier 1 (General) visa, your dependants can still apply.

Tier 1 (General) will remain open to applicants who are already in the UK until 5 April 2011. There will be transitional arrangements for some in-country applicants beyond 6 April 2011, and we will announce details of these in due course.''

maybe i misunderstood that from the UKBA thats why ... so they are not closing til 5th april ... and they are going to announce it again after that date ... if i get that correct?

thanks

Tier 1 (General) and Tier 1 (PSW) are two different immigration categories.

This said, if you qualify for Tier 1 (General) you may make an in-country application before the category closes permanently in 2011.

yes, as for now there is no changes to current PSW visa. however, the changes can be brought in at any time.

So, check you UKBA web-site for updates regularly and don't rely on rumours from your fellow students.
