MF's and debt investments for maintenance funds

Hi,

I am planning to apply for HSMP. I currently donot have required amount of liquid cash in the bank. Most of my investments are in debt funds.
I can withdraw the amount from the deb funds whenever i wish to.

Could you please let me know if the debt funds and mutual funds can be shown as proof maintenance funds for HSMP?
Also kindly let me know the format which should be used for getting the letter from the from the financial institution.

HSMP was subsumed into Tier-1 (General) long ago. Tier-1(General) closed on 23rd Sec 2010 for applicants outside UK.
