Post by ddk » Tue Jan 04, 2011 3:22 am

I hope the UKBA will start dispatching the visas for Tier 1 (General) applicants from today. Please post if anyone got their status changed or received the passport with visa.

ddk - my timelines are very similar to yours.

Okay, from checking through the timeline topic, I have come to the conclusion that nobody has ever received their passport on the first working day after the cap was reopened. Yes, it's based on probably about 4 applications in there, so probably not a very accurate conclusion but it will have to do given the data available.

As today (4 December) is the first working day after the cap was reopened, I doubt we'll get anything today, maybe tomorrow. (okay, maybe for the people a little further East, you have come to that conclusion already as the working day is pretty much over!!!).

If they were monitoring the amount of times an applicant checks their status on the VFS website, they would think something is seriously wrong with my application as I have checked it about 100 times today!!

Hoping tomorrow is a good day!

Just seen a post in sticky out off country process timelines, somebody posted that he got an email yesterday saying that his application is approved and will receive passport in 2 days.

is thsi true, as i thought that 3 jan is a holiday.

I'm jealous if it is in fact true.

The 28th of December is also definitely a holiday for VFS and the British High Commission in South Africa, however, I received an email and an SMS from them on that day. It may be that they either run things in batch, or they have some workaholics there!!

Jhansi, I posted in the timelines sticky, but for ease of reference here it is:

* Submitted application online on 20 December
* Submitted documentation to VFS Johannesburg, South Africa 21 December
* Application received at BHC Pretoria, South Africa 22 December
* Changed to under process 28 December
* Changed to forwarded to application centre 4 January

So I should probably be able to pick up my passport tomorrow (it's already 14:46 here, so I doubt they will get the passport and documents back to Johannesburg in time).

happy for u mate but at the same time this clearly shows that the applications are not being processed on first come first serve basis

It's probably still consistent with a first-come-first-served basis for South Africa--we really don't have that many Tier 1 Applications (look at our statistics) coming through the British High Commission in Pretoria.

Rohitys, I understand your possible resentment (if that's what I can call it), as we all want to be processed as quickly as possible.

Remember though that the first come first serve was for when there was still a limit to ensure that the limit was applied evenly and fairly. There is no limit anymore, so they will process everything as quickly as each office possible can.

I understand your feeling, but I think it's unfounded as the rule for first come first serve worldwide is not in force anymore...I believe that visas will be issued as fast as applications can be processed now. They have removed all references to the old limit for Tier 1 (General), so nobody will sit without a visa if they were approved.

I think there will be a bit of delay for applications submitted in India since the number of applications is very high. In the month of October (month when complete removal of Tier 1 is not communicated), the total number of applications from all over india is 970. So imagine the rush in November and December when every body knows that there is no Tier 1 from next year.

Since I have submitted on 21st December, may be I will have to wait a bit more.

I got mine! An email arrived saying my UK visa has been issued and my passport is being delivered.

US, NYC applicant

Woohoo!

Sounds like we're all gonna get in at once. Pretty cool!
