detention

Hi folks,
I was wondering if anyone new how long a person would stay in detention after they have signed deportation papers.
My daughters boyfriend has been held for four weeks, he signed papers three weeks ago requesting deportation back to Gambia. He has still not been given a date for this to happen. His papers were picked up from the embassy on friday last week????? Any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated....

Just for interest's sake, why on earth would he sign his own deportation papers?
In a few years time we'll look back on immigration control like we look back on American prohibition in the thirties - futile and counter-productive.

He wants to go back to gambia to marry his pregnant fiance, my daughter.

Seek advice from an immigration lawyer. Or contact your local citizen advice... or Just contact your local MP and tell him the whole story... this might be very useful.
