More information please!
Do you have ILR? What is your immigration status?

Generally, it is a problem that you were away for a year - it effectively resets your clock for citizenship.

Bulgaria joined EU in January 2007.
So any Bulgarian national can't aquire PR status before 1st January 2012 (5 years of exercising Treaty Rights).
Then you need to hold PR status for at least 12 months before the date of application for British Citizenship, so 1st January 2013 is the earliest date according to current legislation for Bulgarians to apply for BC on the basis of being EEA nationals.

No, unfortunately Bulgaria joining the EU restarted your citizenship clock.
