How long can i stay outside UK

How long can i stay outside UK

Hi

I'm in final stage of posting my application for Tier1 (within UK). I have to go back to india in May for 4-5 months. I have heard that one can not stay outside UK beyond 90 days being on Tier1! Is this correct?
Can fellow boarders comment on this requirement please? i dont wish to apply for ILR
