ILR Visa Transfer - Urgent

Post by Sherv » Wed Feb 09, 2011 2:14 pm

Hey peaple,

In august 2010 I was granted ILR after 3 years, and by the time they granted me ILR my passport (which had been at the HO for three years) had expired. Nevertheless they issued my ILR into my expired passport!

I am planning to travel to Iran around June and have been told that I can simply take both my new and old passport with me and would be able to exit and enter the UK. However I have a few concerns which I'm hoping that you would be able to help me with:

1. Would there be a problem since the valid visa was issued in an expired passport?
2. Would I have difficulties at Iran border control - especially when returning to the UK?
3. Also considered to pay the £200 fee and transfer my ILR stamp into my new passport, would I get it back by June if I apply this month?

I have already booked my flights and hoping to resolve the issue ASAP, your comments will be much appreciated.

Kind regards

Sherv

it is not manddatory to have the ILR stamp transferred to a new passport. Just make sure that you bring the old one with ILR stamp - better yet is to attach both of them together. I've used this approach in the past and there should be no problems.

I understand that this is not mandatory but I’m worried that this might be an issue at the Iranian Border as they seem to be somewhat unpredictable.
Do you think I have enough time to have the stamp transferred to my new passport by June?
