Post by pamma4455 » Mon Feb 21, 2011 10:59 am

Hi All,

I sent my application on 5th Feb and payment is deducted from my account on 16th Feb but I didn't receive my acknowledgement letter from home office. Shall I call them or I should wait more????
Please reply thanks!!!!!!!!!!

Hi

Need more details - what category are you switching from ? Acknowledgement letters are not generated and sent uniformly with a fixed timeline. There are many cases where people have not got them at all - or have got them after four weeks.

Unfortunately because the process is not very transparent, there is nothing to do but wait !!

You should also be getting a biometrics registration letter if applicable to you.

I received the reply below when I asked about timelines for acknowledgement letters:

From: IND Public Enquiries [mailto:UKBApublicenquiries@UKBA.gsi.gov.uk]

Subject: RE: FAQ

Dear Goldfish,
Thank you for your enquiry.
Please be advised that normally acknowledgement letters are sent out once the payment is processed. However UK Border Agency does not have any timescales between the the time the payment is taken and the acknowledgement letters sent out.
Yours sincerely,

If you intend to reply to this e-mail please ensure that you re-send all the information from your original enquiry.

Subject: FAQ
Hi there,
I have applied for an extension of my Tier 1 (HSMP) visa. Are acknowledgement letters still by Border Agency sent stating that the application has been received? If so, how long after payment is deducted should the letter arrive?
Thanks,
Goldfish

I think you should just wait it out - I was worried too but the letter eventually does come. Sorry - there aren't too many alternatives

To add, it is not 100% guarantee that you will get the Reference Letter. I have heard of cases where individual has got the visa within reasonable time and never had a acknowledgement letter from UKBA. Your Royalmail tracking number and date of birth is more than enough for any enquiries that you may have in future. Ta x
