Docs returned if refused with Visa already expired with HO?

hi All,

If my visa expired whiles awaiting Tier1 application decision from HO:

Will UKBA return my documents including all passports if am refused?

Is there an instance where it will not be returned?

A friend was told to collect it at the port of exit from UK.

If you applied in time the documents should be returned to you.

It would help if you were a bit more specific. Has the home office refused your case and failed to return your documents? If so which documents? When did you apply and when were you refused.

I'm yet to apply. I'm trying to gather all the docs. but my visa is only a few weeks away from expiring. I am worried because of what happened to a friend.
