Working/Living in the USA from UK

Post by greenhorn » Sat Feb 26, 2011 12:48 pm

Hi,

We are considering moving to Texas from the UK and would like some advice on what kind of Visas we would need to apply for. I have re-searched a few different visas but most of them state that a job is required before coming over.

We also heard that some states require a certain amount of money to be in the persons account before he is allowed in. Do you have any information on this?

Any advice or links would be awesome!

Just wondering, why did you consider Texas as opposed to other states? Was it because of the job market?

Generally, a foreign national who wishes to come to the United States must first obtain a visa. An individual can apply for one of two types of visas: a nonimmigrant visa for those who wish to enter the United States on a temporary basis, or an immigrant visa for those coming to the United States for obtaining permanent residency. A visa allows a foreign national to travel to any port-of-entry in the United States and request permission of a U.S. immigration inspector to enter the U.S.
