Printed Copy Of The Immigration Rules

Post by waitinggame52 » Sun Mar 06, 2011 5:37 pm

Hi,

Is there anywhere we can get a "offical" printed copy of the immigration rules ? Need one for a court case - print outs from the internet are not good enough!

Thanks in advance

Out of curiosity, why would a printout not be good enough for the court?

Because they say we could amend the printout to say whatever we like

When you say "they" do you mean the court or your opponent in the case? If it is an immigration case then immigration judges themselves have access to the current Immigration Rules and can verify for themselves if you are presenting the correct version.

Changes to the rules are introduced so often that IMO a hard copy would soon become outdated.

It might help if you could give a little more detail of your case and the reason you want to use the Immigration Rules. What part of the Rules do you want to rely on, and why do you think you might not be believed when you present it?

waitinggame52, the Immigration Rules date from 23.03.1990, and as Kitty has said, have been changed many times. The UKBA website shows numerous changes. Indeed the changes from 01.01.2003 are available, and there are 59 such changes, and yes I have just counted! And there were obviously earlier numerous changes between March 1990 and 2002.

In short the Immigration Rules are not available, except as a document that has been revised many, many times. Printing out from the UKBA website is the best you are going to achieve.

This is what I got when I searched for "statement of changes" in the TSO Bookshop:

You need to know exactly what you're looking for! (And each one costs £5.50 a pop).

The statement of changes can be downloaded for free from the UKBA website.

But what the OP appears to need is the original 1990 document, but then changed by the 100+ changes since then. I am not sure that TSO or anyone sell such an amended document.

waitinggame52, can you please explain in detail the nature of the Court/Tribunal proceedings where the Immigration Rules are required?
John
