Usually if you have dependents then the post office is not an option although sometimes they do offer this as an option on your letter. You should therefore wait and see.

With dependants, post office is not an option. its ruled out. I also applied along with my dependant from scotland. when i received the invitation letter to enrol my biometrics, i was only given the option to book the appointment either by phone or online. There were no appointments available online, so i had to take the appointment by phone and i got the appointment date in April 2011. I received my biometrics letter on 25th feb and took the appointment same day. so just be assured that u will have to wait atleast a month and a half for your biometrics as earliest dates are available atleast after a month.

Yes, it is difficult to get appointment in any location now a days.
I booked my biometrics on 25th Feb 2011, the same day when i received
the biometrics invitation letter.
I got the appointment for 4th April 2011 at Glasgow.

you cannot book biometric appointment before you receive the letter from HO requesting you to do so. The letter will contain your case reference number, which you need to provide while booking the biometrics appointment. Just wait for the HO letter asing you to enrol your biometrics.

i have got my biometric enrollment letter today but it says i can book only online. there is no phone number available to book appointment through phone, as i have read many forum every one say its difficult to book appointment online as not dates available and you have to book through phone. So confused i dont want to miss my brothers wedding.

You may choose to enrol biometrics at designated post office(s) (In Scotland, there's only one - in Aberdeen). This service does not require an appointment, but one needs to pay for this service.

Call UKBA and enquire if you (and your dependants) can enrol biometrics at a post-office.

Am not aware of a condition that an applicant may use a post-office only when UKBA tells / suggests so, and not otherwise. Likewise, I cannot see a condition to the effect that dependant(s) cannot enrol biometrics at a post-office. Perhaps, I haven't looked everywhere? So best that you check with UKBA / post-office (helpline number given on website).

This service is currently available only to single applicants aged 16 or over, except at the South Shields post office. Applicants with dependants aged 6 or over can enrol their biometrics at the South Shields branch, if they have received a letter to confirm that the service is available to them.

In addition to attend at the post office you need to have the back page with the 'barcode' on that the post office scan. If they don't give you the post office option then you don't get this page and you can't go to the post office without it.

Hi

I called the Home Office number mentioned in the invitation letter. You will hardly get any online appointment for biometrics as its all full. so best thing is any way to call the number and take the appointment. They pick the call in 1-2 rings and is much easier option rather than searching online for the available dates.

All the best!!
