another way to get entry clearance, feasible?

Post by zzyy » Mon Mar 27, 2006 3:14 pm

For those guys who are in UK but have no time to go back to their home countries to get entry clearance, if the UK embassy/consulate in that country does not require face-to-face interview, is it feasible to post passport and relevant forms to a friend, and let him submit the application and post back the passport with new visa?

To do so you will have to lie in the VAF1 application and this is absolutley not recommended. In the VAF1 form there is a question:

"5.2 On what date do you intend to arrive? "

What will you answer to this?

Also you will not be considered as having a valid Leave to Enter or Remain in the UK. As even if you manage to get an Entry Clearance this will only serve as Leave to Enter when stamped by an immigration officer upon entry to the UK.

Plus - at least for some passport holders, posting their passport outside their country of residence will amount to breaking the law of the country that issued the passport.

I'm just curious when this weird idea came to my mind, and I also found out one guy is doing this way.

He plans to visit Switzerland after his passport is posted back, and his passport will get stamped when he enters UK from Switzerland.

Thanks guys. I won't do anything illegal.
