Do they complete a credit check for settlement visa

Hi
I am due to marry my turkish partner in a few weeks and we will be applying for a settlement visa for him to come and live with me in the uk. I have enough money to support him but I do have credit card debt and a bad credit score. I was wondering if anyone knows if they complete a credit check? I know they check my bank statements but can not find anywhere if they do need a credit check!

As far as I have heard no, they don't do a credit check.

Generally, a company can't do a credit check on you unless you give them permission to anyhow.
