question regarding 20 hrs work (applying for PSW)

Post by longwalkhome2010 » Fri Apr 08, 2011 10:39 am

hi
i work 20 hours a week. but i am not on hourly rate. i get a fixed amount of 140 pounds per week (known as basic pay). my wage slip does not say how many hours i work, instead it shows the basic weekly amount of 140 pounds. could this give rise to a problem, when i apply for PSW visa. i had an argument with my friend and he said that the HO might think that i am working more than 20 hrs. I am worried with this matter, because everything else in my application is well laid, i don't want this matter to cause confusion. any suggestion will be much appreciated.
thanks

You do not need to disclose any earnings while applying for PSW. So I can't see it being a problem. Do ensure though you keep to 20 hours a week unless you have finished your course.

but i have heard from students that some students get rejected due to working more than 20 hours. HO must be using a system to check NIC paid in order to find out the number of hours worked. i was wondering if my situation could lead to any misleading information.

well, can you get a letter from your employer saying you are contracted to do work 20 hours a week for a salary of x amount.

this would be enough to ensure UKBA dont get suspicious at all.
