New job

Post by asal » Fri Apr 15, 2011 6:09 pm

Hi,

I have secured both contract and fixed term contract job.

Contract job-280 pounds per day -3months contract
Permanent job-28000GBP per annum -12months fixed contract.

Both jobs are outside london.

I would be greateful if you could give your views on which offer to choose.

I contacted umbrella company but they say I get only 870 per week from 1400gbp.

Thanks.

Then it is still a contract job (the 12 month one - it is only permanent if it is in fact a permanent job - e.g. no time limit). I think it will depend entirely on you which one you take. The most important thing you have to look at is earning more money for the short-term job, but having to look for a job again in 3 months time. Nobody here can tell you what you want and what you prefer...

Also, it sounds like the 3 months isn't fixed and if you prove yourself, they might extend.

Lastly, it might be a bit more beneficial and tax efficient to get your own limited company, rather than using an umbrella company. Look carefully at both options.

Congrats on the jobs.
